Based in Berlin’s Mitte, Basta is an independent restaurant and bar known for creative plates, inventive drinks and a lively, anything-goes atmosphere. For four nights only, Basta will take over The Hoxton in London (Holborn, 19 November), Paris (20 November), Amsterdam (Herengracht, 26 November) and Rome (27 November), bringing its big flavours and late-night spirit along for the ride. The tour follows previous Old Fashioned Month collaborations with Marseille’s Livingston and Barcelona’s SIPS, in partnership with Woodford Reserve.

The limited-edition menu features Basta’s distinct take on classics including Sourdough Bread served with rich Smoked Sage Butter, LOBB’s Giant White Beans and Çiğ Köfte Tartare. Seafood takes centre stage in the form of Hamachi Crudo and Grilled Calamaretti, while Chocolate Crémeux provides an indulgent finish.

The cocktail menu puts a twist on the classics. The Old Fashioned & Pickle Serve pairs a Woodford Reserve Rye Old Fashioned with a spiced pickled pineapple chaser. Kakigori Bubbles combines Woodford Reserve Bourbon with mint kakigori snow, orange and Grand Marnier oleo saccharum, aromatic bitters and sparkling wine. The BASTA Old Fashioned mixes bourbon with house cherry reduction, sweet vermouth, orange, aromatic bitters and a touch of absinthe. Rounding things out, the Old Plum Mizuwari combines Woodford Reserve Bourbon with salted plum wine (Umeshu) and soda water for a subtly sweet and savoury serve.

Can’t make one of the tour stops? A birthday cocktail will be available in every Hoxton lobby across the UK and Europe throughout November. The Going Bananas Since 2006 gives the Old Fashioned a refreshing twist, blending Woodford Reserve Bourbon with Martini Bianco, Giffard Banane du Brésil, orange bitters and a touch of acidity, topped with Schweppes Bitter Lemon and Pommery Champagne, and garnished with a golden sage leaf.
